Shades and sunscreen for tots
Spending a lot of time outside means that you should consider trying to convince your wee-one that sunglasses are cool. Skyler wouldn't even allow me to put them on him at first, then he would let me put them on and instantly rip them off. Finally, one day I put them on showing him how everyone (including mommy) was wearing sunglasses. As he tried to rip them off I tickled him and played with him allowing him a little time to experience wearing the sunglasses. He kept them on for a few minutes before ripping them off. Each time we put them on him after that he left them on a little bit longer. Now, he cries when we take off his "ow-wees" (apparently this means sunglasses). Julbo shades

Getting Started
Welcome to my latest and greatest idea! I want to start tracking my mommy-related outdoor experiences in hopes of streamlining the outdoor-parenting experience. So many of us parents were outdoor enthusiasts (pre-baby), in fact, this is what makes us whole, awesome human-beings that feel awesome enough to be bringing other human beings into this world in hopes of making it a better place. And, so many of us lose a portion of this part of our lives when we have children. There are many reasons that this happens, a common one being that you as a parent feel that you should sacrifice your own happiness for that of your child, in fact, isn't that the decision you made when you decided to have kids? I refuse to believe that once you have a child backpacking, rock climbing, skiing, <-- insert sport here --> becomes all about swing-sets and music classes. I believe in striving for balance in life and, to be good parents we shouldn't sacrifice ourselves, we should seek to be the happiest damn parents we can for our children! And if that means a couple of peaks need to be bagged, then so be it! Not to say that there isn't a time and place for swing-sets and music classes, but all of these things are important for the whole family to be happy!
Some of my own motivation for this venture includes my personal desire to create more adventure in my life. I discovered my love of outdoor adventure somewhat late in life, and I don't want to totally sacrifice that quest because I had a baby, I want to include him in it. Whatever your motivation for wanting to continue engaging in extreme outdoor sports with your child, lets get together and create a collaborative environment to help each other do the things we love better, and with our kids!
